What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Canopy Lawn Care's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, advertising may be placed in local, regional, or national media at the franchisor's choice. This includes various channels such as print, direct mail, internet, radio, or television. The advertising is funded through the Brand Fund, which franchisees contribute to as a percentage of their gross revenues.
Canopy Lawn Care does not guarantee that advertising expenditures from the Brand Fund will directly benefit any specific franchisee on a pro rata basis or at all. This means that while franchisees contribute to the fund, there's no assurance that advertising efforts will be targeted to their specific location or service area. The franchisor retains full discretion over how the Brand Fund is used for advertising and promotional activities.
This policy is fairly typical in franchising, where franchisors control brand-level marketing. However, it's important for prospective Canopy Lawn Care franchisees to understand that their contributions to the Brand Fund may not always translate into direct, measurable benefits for their individual business. Franchisees are also required to spend a specified amount on local advertising, giving them some control over marketing efforts in their immediate area.
