What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Canopy Lawn Care's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must acquire, maintain, and upgrade specific hardware, software, information processing, communication systems, and internet access as prescribed in the Manual, which Canopy Lawn Care may modify periodically. Franchisees must also comply with any software licenses used in connection with the Canopy Lawn Care system.

Canopy Lawn Care requires franchisees to use specific software, and if established, a proprietary database management and intranet system. This system serves as the exclusive means for tracking and maintaining customer, vendor, and lead information, as well as for other uses that Canopy Lawn Care prescribes in the Manual. Monthly sales reporting may occur through mandatory software, including automatic drafts via electronic transfer of Royalty Fees and Brand Fund Contributions.

Franchisees are responsible for protecting themselves from computer viruses, bugs, power disruptions, communication line disruptions, Internet access failures, Internet content failures, date-related problems, and attacks by hackers and other unauthorized intruders. This includes securing their systems with firewalls, access code protection, anti-virus systems, and backup systems. If a franchisee violates data privacy and security obligations, Canopy Lawn Care has the right to inspect the franchisee's Lawn Care Business and charge the franchisee for the costs and expenses of the inspection. The franchisee is also responsible for Canopy Lawn Care's costs and expenses that arise from the franchisee's non-compliance or a security breach caused by the franchisee or its personnel.

In essence, a Canopy Lawn Care franchisee needs to be proficient in using the required software and systems for managing their business, protecting their data, and communicating effectively. They should also be prepared to adapt to updates and changes in technology as directed by Canopy Lawn Care.
