What are the specific criteria for passing a criminal background check for employees of a Canine Dimensions franchisee?
Canine_Dimensions Franchise · 2025 FDDAnswer from 2025 FDD Document
Franchisee will ensure that each of Franchisee's employees or independent contractors who will come into contact with client animals, or will be entering client homes, also passes a criminal background check before such employee is permitted access to client animals or client homes.
During the Term, Franchisor has the right (at any time and at Franchisor's discretion) to require Franchisee and its owners to submit to a new, updated criminal background check.
Further, Franchisee will notify Franchisor within two (2) business days if Franchisee or any of its owners is charged with or convicted of a felony, fraud, a crime involving moral turpitude, theft, burglary, animal cruelty, or breaking and entering.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Canine Dimensions' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must ensure that all employees or independent contractors who interact with client animals or enter client homes pass a criminal background check before being allowed such access. The FDD does not specify the exact criteria for passing the background check. However, the franchisee must notify Canine Dimensions within two business days if the franchisee or any of its owners is charged with or convicted of a felony, fraud, a crime involving moral turpitude, theft, burglary, animal cruelty, or breaking and entering.
Canine Dimensions retains the right to require franchisees and their owners to undergo new or updated criminal background checks at any time during the term of the agreement, at the discretion of Canine Dimensions. This allows Canine Dimensions to maintain standards and address any concerns that may arise during the franchise term.
Because the specific criteria for passing a criminal background check are not detailed in the FDD, prospective franchisees should ask Canine Dimensions for more information about what standards are used to evaluate background checks. Understanding these standards is crucial for franchisees to ensure they hire suitable employees and maintain the safety and integrity of the Canine Dimensions brand.
