What This Means (2025 FDD)

Based on the 2025 Canine Dimensions Franchise Disclosure Document, the document does not explicitly state who owns the revenues derived from customer information collected by franchisees. However, the franchisee is responsible for indemnifying Canine Dimensions Franchising, LLC against losses and expenses arising from the collection or use of customer information. This suggests that while the franchisee may collect the information, the franchisor has an interest in how it is handled.

Typically, in franchise agreements, the ownership and usage rights of customer data are clearly defined. Some franchisors retain ownership and control the use of customer data for marketing and other purposes, while others allow franchisees to use the data within certain guidelines. The absence of a clear statement on revenue ownership related to customer information in the Canine Dimensions FDD could create ambiguity.

A prospective Canine Dimensions franchisee should seek clarification from the franchisor regarding the ownership of revenues derived from customer information. Specifically, they should inquire about whether Canine Dimensions has any claims to revenue generated from the use of customer data collected by the franchisee, and what restrictions, if any, exist on how the franchisee can utilize and potentially monetize this information.
