What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Camp Margaritaville's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the ability to grant FBR (Food, Beverage, Retail) Units may be limited by pre-existing restaurant license and franchise agreements that contain areas of protection. If Camp Margaritaville is unable to grant the franchisee the opportunity to operate an FBR Unit, the franchisee will be required to operate one or more food and beverage concepts approved by Camp Margaritaville in its sole discretion.
This means that while franchisees may have the opportunity to operate Margaritaville-branded restaurants, bars, or retail stores within their resort, this is not guaranteed. These FBR Units are licensed under a separate FBR Rider to the Franchise Agreement. The franchisee must make space available in their resort for all FBR Units that meet Camp Margaritaville's specifications for size, design, and layout. For restaurant/bar FBR Units, franchisees are required to use specified menu items, known as the Core Menu, for a certain percentage of their food offerings, with the Core Menu currently making up approximately 80% of food offerings. For retail store FBR Units, franchisees must sell Margaritaville-branded or themed merchandise, in addition to other relevant retail items.
If Camp Margaritaville's pre-existing agreements prevent them from granting an FBR Unit, the franchisee will still be required to offer food and beverage options, but they will be concepts approved by Camp Margaritaville rather than the standard Margaritaville-branded options. This ensures that all Camp Margaritaville locations have food and beverage services available, even if the branded options are restricted due to prior agreements.
Prospective franchisees should inquire about the likelihood of being granted FBR Units at their specific location and understand what alternative food and beverage concepts might be required if FBR Units are not an option. This is important for financial planning and ensuring the resort meets the desired customer experience.
