What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Byrider's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the initial franchise fee is refundable under specific conditions. A prospective franchisee can receive a refund of the initial franchise fee if Byrider Franchising Partners receives written notice from the franchisee within 60 days from the date of the Franchise Agreement. In addition to providing written notice, the franchisee must also sign the form of general release required by Byrider Franchising Partners.
It is important to note that this refund policy applies specifically to the initial franchise fee. The document states that all other amounts reflected in Item 7 of the FDD, which details the estimated initial investment, will not be refundable unless the franchisee is able to negotiate a refund with the particular supplier. This means that costs associated with items such as the starter kit, rent, furniture, fixtures, equipment, and other components of the initial investment are generally non-refundable unless otherwise negotiated.
This refund policy provides a limited window for franchisees to reconsider their investment decision shortly after signing the Franchise Agreement. However, franchisees should be aware of the strict requirements for obtaining a refund, including the 60-day deadline and the requirement to sign a general release. Furthermore, franchisees should understand that the refund applies only to the initial franchise fee and not to other expenses incurred in starting the franchise, unless they can negotiate separate refund agreements with suppliers.
