What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Byrider's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must have a stable, business-class internet connection to access technology resources hosted by Byrider or its third-party providers. The FDD also suggests that redundant connections are preferable. This ensures reliable access to the systems necessary for operating the franchise. Byrider will provide VPN client access for a fee on a per-user basis.

This requirement means that prospective franchisees need to factor in the cost of a robust internet infrastructure when budgeting for their initial investment and ongoing operational expenses. The cost of purchasing or leasing hardware, software, and other technology components is estimated to be between $5,000 and $40,000. The annual cost of maintaining, repairing, updating, and upgrading the technology system is estimated to range from $0 to $75,000.

Franchisees are also responsible for maintaining a secure environment, which includes regularly patching operating systems and software. Byrider may require periodic technology updates to match current standards. This ensures that all franchisees maintain a specific level of quality and capabilities for their customers.

Byrider's technology system includes proprietary software, off-the-shelf software, local and centralized hardware, and a dealer management system with integrated customer relations management. Franchisees must license and use the Byrider technology system to operate their business and maintain required records. Byrider will have independent access to the data collected in the franchisee's files.
