Is a Byrider franchisee required to operate a service center at the location of their Business?

Byrider Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

You must also operate a service center at the location of your Business ("Service Center"). The Service Center may only provide repair services for vehicles purchased from Byrider-branded businesses, unless Byrider Franchising Partners approves in writing for the Service Center to provide repair services to the general public. However, if you or your affiliate already operate a Service Center at a Byrider Business, you will not be required to operate another Service Center at your Business, so long as the existing Service Center is located within a reasonable distance to your Business, as determined by Byrider Franchising Partners.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Byrider's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are generally required to operate a service center at the location of their Byrider Business. This service center primarily provides repair services for vehicles purchased from Byrider-branded businesses. However, Byrider Franchising Partners may provide written approval for the service center to offer repair services to the general public.

There is an exception to this requirement. If a franchisee or their affiliate already operates a service center at an existing Byrider Business, they will not be required to establish another service center at the new location. This exception is contingent upon the existing service center being located within a reasonable distance of the new Byrider Business, as determined by Byrider Franchising Partners.

This requirement ensures that Byrider customers have access to repair services for their vehicles, potentially enhancing customer satisfaction and brand loyalty. However, it also represents a significant operational and financial undertaking for new franchisees, as they must either establish a new service center or ensure that an existing one meets Byrider's requirements for proximity and service standards. Franchisees should clarify the definition of "reasonable distance" with Byrider Franchising Partners to fully understand the scope of this requirement.
