Is a Burros Fries Owner obligated to attend additional training if required?

thin thirty (30) days of first employment, at Franchisee's cost as provided below. For a second or subsequent franchise, we will not be obligated to provide additional training to Franchisee.
We may reasonably require Franchisee, its Owners, General Managers or lead chef to receive or attend and complete to our satisfaction additional or advanced training from time to time. Franchisee may be required to pay a fee for such training of up to three hundred dollars ($300) per person per ½

What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Burros Fries's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, Burros Fries may require franchisees, their owners, general managers, or lead chefs to attend and complete additional or advanced training. This additional training is not guaranteed, but if required, the franchisee must complete it to Burros Fries's satisfaction.
If additional training is required, Burros Fries may charge a fee of up to $300 per person per half day. In addition to the training fee, the franchisee is responsible for covering the costs of travel, food, accommodations, and all other related expenses for those attending the training. Burros Fries states that it will attempt to use distance learning techniques where possible to minimize these costs.
This requirement means that a Burros Fries franchisee should be prepared to invest further in training beyond the initial program, both in terms of fees and travel-related expenses, if Burros Fries deems it necessary. The franchisee maintains the responsibility for ensuring themselves and their staff are adequately trained as per Burros Fries's standards, and failure to comply with additional training requirements could potentially lead to consequences as outlined in the franchise agreement.
