What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Burros Fries's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to purchase technology item updates and upgrades to operate their business. Burros Fries will provide franchisees with all update and upgrade requirements for their technology items and related software in response to changes in the Operations Manual or the company's policies, which are communicated in writing. The initial cost of these technology items ranges from $5,000 to $10,000, as detailed in Item 7 of the FDD.
The cost for hardware and software upgrades is estimated to be approximately $1,500 to $1,700 per year. However, this cost could be higher if Burros Fries changes companies. While Burros Fries will provide update and upgrade requirements for any proprietary software they develop in the future, they are not obligated to perform maintenance or provide updates or upgrades to any third-party technology items or software programs used by the franchisee. Additionally, Burros Fries is not obligated to provide hardware repairs for these technology items.
This requirement ensures that all Burros Fries locations operate with current and compliant technology, maintaining brand consistency and operational standards. However, franchisees should be aware of the ongoing costs associated with these updates and upgrades, and factor them into their financial planning. The potential for increased costs if Burros Fries changes technology providers also introduces a degree of financial uncertainty for franchisees.
