What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Burros Fries's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, upon termination or expiration of the Franchise Agreement, Burros Fries has the absolute right to notify Internet authorities regarding the franchisee's domain name usage. This includes notifying InterNIC, ICANN, and other Internet authorities about the termination or expiration of the franchisee's right to use domain names, web pages, websites, and search engines associated with the business.
Burros Fries is also authorized to instruct these Internet authorities and search engines to transfer all domain names, websites, and search engines related to the business to Burros Fries or its designee. The franchisee acknowledges that Burros Fries has the right to, and interest in, all domain names, web pages, websites, and search engines related to the business.
Furthermore, the franchisee may be required to sign a general release absolving the Internet authorities from any claims, liabilities, actions, and damages that the franchisee may have against them in connection with this provision. This ensures that Burros Fries can maintain control over the brand's online presence even after a franchise agreement ends.
