What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Burros Fries's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must obtain written approval for any new product, including menu items, they wish to introduce. The assessment fee for testing a new menu item is $300. This fee is payable to Burros Fries. However, this fee may be waived if the new menu item meets Burros Fries's requirements and is added to the approved list for all franchise locations.
If Burros Fries needs to use a third party to conduct the testing of the new menu item, they reserve the right to impose an additional fee on the franchisee. All product assessment fees are non-refundable and are uniformly imposed.
This policy ensures that all Burros Fries locations maintain consistent quality and standards. While the initial $300 fee is relatively modest, the potential for additional third-party testing fees means franchisees should carefully consider the potential costs and benefits before proposing a new menu item. Franchisees should also inquire about the criteria for waiving the fee by meeting existing requirements.
