What This Means (2025 FDD)
The 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document does not explicitly state that Bumble Roofing guarantees its information or communication systems will be free from vulnerabilities. However, it does outline the franchisee's responsibilities regarding the security of their systems and data.
According to the FDD, franchisees are required to take reasonable steps to secure their systems, including implementing firewalls, access code protection, anti-virus systems, and backup systems. This indicates that franchisees bear the responsibility for maintaining the security of their own IT infrastructure. Franchisees must also ensure their suppliers, lenders, landlords, customers, and governmental agencies are reasonably protected.
Furthermore, Bumble Roofing franchisees must acquire, maintain, and upgrade their hardware, software, information processing and communication systems, and internet access as prescribed in the Manual and as modified by Bumble Roofing. They must also comply with any software license agreements related to the system and use Bumble Roofing's required software for tracking and maintaining customer, vendor, and lead information. Franchisees are also obligated to notify Bumble Roofing immediately of any suspected data breach. These requirements suggest that while Bumble Roofing mandates certain technology standards and provides systems for franchisees to use, the ultimate responsibility for security and protection against vulnerabilities rests with the franchisee.
