What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Bumble Roofing's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a 'Trade Secret' is defined as information related to the Bumble Roofing System. This includes formulas, patterns, compilations, programs, devices, methods, techniques, or processes.
For a prospective franchisee, this definition means that any information that gives Bumble Roofing a competitive edge and is not generally known or easily discoverable is considered a trade secret. This information has economic value because it is not widely known, and Bumble Roofing takes reasonable measures to keep it secret.
Bumble Roofing's definition of 'Trade Secret' is fairly standard in franchising. Franchise agreements typically include clauses that protect the franchisor's confidential information and trade secrets to maintain the integrity and competitive advantage of the franchise system. Franchisees are usually obligated to keep this information confidential during and after the term of the franchise agreement. This obligation is further reinforced by restrictive covenants that prevent franchisees from competing with the franchise system, especially after the agreement ends.
