What is the Technician Program for a Buildingstars franchise designed for?

Buildingstars Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

The Technician Program is for individuals who want to get into the cleaning business with relatively low overhead and want to provide the cleaning services in smaller buildings themselves. With this type of franchise program, you cannot hire any additional employees, but instead you are required to do all of the cleaning yourself. Each person who performs services must sign as the "Franchisee." No more than 2 persons may be named as the "Franchisee". Since you provide the cleaning personally, the size of Customer Accounts you can service is relatively small. Since this program allows people to "try" this type of business, the attrition rate for franchisees leaving the System is higher than normal.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Buildingstars's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the Technician Program is designed for individuals seeking entry into the cleaning business with relatively low overhead. This program is structured for owner-operators who will personally provide the cleaning services in smaller buildings. A key condition of the Technician Program is that franchisees cannot hire additional employees; the named franchisee(s) must perform all cleaning tasks themselves. The FDD specifies that no more than two individuals can be named as the franchisee under this program.

Because the franchisee personally handles the cleaning, the size of customer accounts that can be serviced is limited. This model allows individuals to test the waters of business ownership. The FDD notes that due to the nature of this introductory program, Buildingstars experiences a higher attrition rate among Technician Program franchisees compared to its other franchise models.

Buildingstars also offers the On-Site Manager Program and the Corporate Program. The On-Site Manager Program is designed for franchisees who are still involved in cleaning but are expanding into larger buildings by hiring employees. The Corporate Program is for franchisees who manage their business full-time and have hired employees to expand into even larger buildings. The FDD states that franchisees often start with the Technician Program and then convert to the On-Site Manager Program and then the Corporate Program as their business grows.
