What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Buildingstars's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, in November 2019, Buildingstars purchased the assets, including unit franchise agreements, of its master franchisees that operated the Tampa, FL region. Buildingstars also purchased the assets of its master franchisee which operated the Charlotte, NC region in June 2022 and is continuing operations in these regions. This indicates that Buildingstars is actively involved in managing and operating franchises directly in certain regions after acquiring them from master franchisees.
For a prospective franchisee, this information is relevant for a few reasons. First, it demonstrates that Buildingstars is willing to buy back master franchise territories, which could be a potential exit strategy for a master franchisee. Second, it shows that Buildingstars directly manages franchise operations in some areas, which could impact the level of support and interaction a franchisee might have with the corporate office versus a master franchisee.
It's important for potential franchisees to understand the implications of Buildingstars directly managing operations in certain regions. This could mean more direct oversight and potentially more standardized practices. It may also affect the availability of master franchise opportunities in the future, as Buildingstars could choose to operate more regions directly. Prospective franchisees should inquire about the reasons behind these acquisitions and how they might affect franchise operations and support in those areas.
