What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Buildingstars' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Buildingstars has the right to change the marks used by the franchisee at any time and for any reason they deem appropriate. The franchisee is responsible for paying the costs associated with this change and must promptly make the necessary changes.
This means that a Buildingstars franchisee could be required to update signage, marketing materials, and other branded items to reflect a new mark. This could create an unexpected expense for the franchisee. The franchisee agreement also states that the franchisee must use the marks and system licensed by Buildingstars in the manner prescribed by Buildingstars.
Buildingstars' right to change the marks is not uncommon in franchising, as franchisors need the flexibility to update their branding to stay current and competitive. However, the requirement that the franchisee bears the costs of these changes is something a prospective franchisee should carefully consider. It is important to factor in the potential costs of rebranding when evaluating the overall investment required for a Buildingstars franchise.
Prospective franchisees should inquire about the frequency with which Buildingstars has changed its marks in the past and the typical costs associated with such changes. This information can help them better assess the potential financial impact of this provision.
