What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Buff City Soap's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the Technology Fee is invoiced each month along with the Royalty Fee and Brand Fund Contributions. The Technology Fee covers the costs associated with the technology provided to each Buff City Soap location, including software licenses, database management, software maintenance, internet/Wi-Fi, cyber security/firewalls, music copyrights, and general IT support. The minimum monthly fee is currently $500, but Buff City Soap retains the right to increase this fee with 60 days' notice.

Prospective franchisees should note that the Technology Fee is a recurring monthly expense that must be factored into their operating budget. Additionally, Loyalty program fees are also invoiced monthly with the Technology Fee. The due date for the Technology Fee is monthly with the Royalty Fee payment, and payment must be made via electronic funds transfer. However, Buff City Soap has the right to modify the due date to every Friday to coincide with payment of the Royalty Fee and Brand Fund Contribution upon 60 days prior written notice to the franchisee.

Furthermore, the FDD outlines additional technology-related costs. There is an estimated annual cost of $1,000 for hardware and a biannual cost of $1,000 for software maintenance, updates, and upgrades. These costs are payable to vendors as incurred and do not cover credit card processing fees. Franchisees are also required to use certain tools like Appointedd® for online event scheduling (currently $21.97 per month) and Woven® for operations management (currently $36 per month), with these fees also invoiced monthly with the Royalty Fee payment.
