What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Buff City Soap's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are not required to replace the POS system more than once every five years.
This means that a Buff City Soap franchisee can expect to use their point-of-sale (POS) system for a minimum of five years before being required to upgrade or replace it. This provides some stability in terms of technology costs and implementation. However, Buff City Soap retains the right to mandate updates or upgrades periodically, so franchisees should budget for potential technology changes.
While the FDD specifies a maximum replacement frequency, Buff City Soap and its affiliates are not obligated to provide ongoing maintenance, repairs, upgrades, or updates to the Technologies. The franchisee is responsible for these costs, and the franchisor may modify the Technology Fee at any time to reimburse costs incurred in modifying any proprietary software that it licenses to the franchisee and other components of the technology systems. This could lead to unexpected expenses if the system requires frequent maintenance or if the franchisor decides to implement significant software changes.
