(f) Payment Processing. Franchisor may, at its sole discretion, choose to change credit card payment processing service providers. What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Buff City Soap FDD, franchisees may be required to replace credit card terminals if Buff City Soap changes its credit card payment processing service providers. The FDD does not specify a maximum frequency for these replacements. This means Buff City Soap could potentially require replacements more often than every five years, which is the general limit for other capital improvements.
This policy could lead to unexpected costs for the franchisee if Buff City Soap decides to switch providers frequently. The franchisee is responsible for the cost of these replacements. However, Buff City Soap may choose to pay for the payment processing technologies and then invoice the franchisee.
Prospective Buff City Soap franchisees should consider the potential financial impact of this policy and inquire about the likelihood of changes in payment processing service providers. Understanding the typical lifespan and cost of credit card terminals, as well as Buff City Soap's historical practices, would be beneficial in assessing this risk.
