This operation is governed by the Franchise Agreement established between Buff City Soap Franchising, LLC (the franchisor) and the franchisee. Essentially, a Makery is the physical retail location where franchisees conduct business under the Buff City Soap brand.

The Franchise Agreement outlines the rights and responsibilities of both the franchisor and the franchisee in operating the Makery. The franchisor grants the franchisee the right to operate the Buff City Soap shop at a specific location, while the franchisee agrees to adhere to the franchisor's established System, Marks, and operational standards. This includes utilizing specified products, presentation styles, services, know-how, and methods of operation that define and distinguish a Buff City Soap makery.

The agreement also specifies that the franchisor retains rights outside of those expressly granted to the franchisee. This allows Buff City Soap to advertise and promote the System both within and outside of the franchisee's territory, operate or license other Buff City Soap makeries outside the territory (even adjacent locations), and offer products through various channels of distribution. The initial term of the franchise agreement commences on the effective date and extends until the tenth anniversary of the Makery's opening date.
