Which vehicle groups will Budget provide with hand controls?

According to Budget's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, hand controls will be provided for specific vehicle categories. These categories include two-door compact cars (Z), four-door compact cars (B), two-door full-size cars (D), four-door full-size cars (E), and luxury cars (H). This policy ensures that Budget complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act, which mandates accommodations for disabled customers.

Budget also outlines specific notice requirements for customers requesting vehicles equipped with hand controls. For rental locations open until 11:00 p.m. seven days a week, or those with longer hours, Budget requires no more than 24 hours advance notice. For all other rental locations, the advance notice requirement is no more than 48 hours. However, for certain high-volume airport locations, Budget may require as little as eight hours' notice, provided the request is received between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

It's important to note that the ability to provide hand controls is subject to the availability of a trained mechanic or other qualified employee. Budget commits to training an adequate number of employees in the proper installation of hand controls and will make alternative arrangements if a trained person is not available at a particular location. Furthermore, Budget will not impose any charge for providing or installing hand controls in its rental vehicles, and if the requested car size is unavailable with hand controls, the renter will be upgraded to the next available size at no extra cost.
