What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Budget's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a licensee must adopt new letter and number symbols for communicating rental information. These symbols pertain to rental rates, vehicle types, credit cards, and other similar rental transaction details. The symbols must be compatible with the requirements set by ABCR and/or the Air Traffic Conference, or another outside standard setting agency.

Budget franchisees are required to implement these new symbols as soon as practical. However, the agreement specifies a maximum timeframe for compliance. Licensees must comply with the new standards no later than six months after receiving notice from ABCR about the new requirements, standards, and specifications.

This requirement ensures that all Budget locations adhere to a unified standard for communicating rental information, which is essential for brand consistency and customer understanding. The current symbol requirements are detailed in Schedule 4 to Schedule F, which is attached to the agreement. This schedule provides franchisees with the specific guidelines they need to follow when implementing the new symbol standards.
