What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Budget's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, when a vehicle registration is expiring for a Budget licensee vehicle, the Custodial City should contact the Owning City. The Custodial City needs to provide the MVA (Motor Vehicle Account number), license plate number, and the registered state of the vehicle to the Owning City. This process ensures that vehicle registration is handled correctly between the different Budget locations, specifically between the Custodial City (where the vehicle is physically located) and the Owning City (which is responsible for the vehicle).
For corporate vehicles, the Custodial City should instead contact the Fleet Processing Department at reg.renewal@avisbudget.com, providing the same information (MVA, license plate number, and registered state). This distinction highlights the different procedures for handling registration renewals based on vehicle ownership (licensee vs. corporate).
This requirement ensures proper communication and maintenance of vehicle registration, which is crucial for legal compliance and smooth operations within the Budget franchise system. Franchisees acting as Custodial Cities must follow these guidelines to avoid any potential issues related to vehicle registration and to maintain good standing with both the Owning City and Budget corporate.
