What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Brueggers Bagels's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the franchisee, referred to as the Licensee, is responsible for covering the costs associated with additional or refresher training. Specifically, if Brueggers Bagels requires the Licensee's manager to attend and complete additional or refresher training, the Licensee must bear all costs associated with this training. This includes training related to testing the Bakery's operation and becoming certified to train employees in connection with such additional or refresher training.
This means that as a Brueggers Bagels franchisee, you should budget for potential expenses related to ongoing training requirements for your managers. These costs can include travel, lodging, and any training fees that Brueggers Bagels may impose. It is important to note that if the manager completes the training satisfactorily, they are then responsible for providing the same training to the employees at the Bakery, in accordance with Brueggers Bagels's standards.
Furthermore, Brueggers Bagels may provide additional training or assistance to the Licensee's personnel upon request. However, this additional training or assistance is also at the Licensee's sole cost and expense. These costs may include instructional materials, training and assistance fees, compensation for Brueggers Bagels's representatives, travel, lodging, and related costs for the representatives. Therefore, franchisees need to factor in these potential costs when requesting additional support or training for their staff.
In the event that a Certified Manager leaves their position, the franchisee is responsible for enrolling a qualified replacement in the initial training program within thirty days. While Brueggers Bagels provides two replacement training sessions for up to three individuals each, any additional individuals or sessions will incur a training fee of $1,600 per person, plus all other associated expenses like transportation, lodging, and meals. This highlights the importance of carefully managing staff and planning for potential turnover to minimize training expenses.
