What This Means (2025 FDD)

Based on the 2025 FDD, Brueggers Bagels franchisees are required to adhere to specific guidelines regarding advertising and promotional materials. While the FDD does not explicitly state that Brueggers Bagels must provide advertising and promotional materials that they produce with their own funds, it does emphasize that all advertising and promotional materials must bear the Proprietary Marks in the form, color, size, and location prescribed by Brueggers Bagels. This suggests that franchisees must align their advertising with the brand's standards.

Furthermore, the FDD mentions the Brand Marketing Fund, which is used for various advertising and promotional activities. Brueggers Bagels may use this fund to create advertising materials, but they are not obligated to provide materials to franchisees that match their contributions to the fund. Franchisees are required to contribute to this fund, and the funds are used to maximize general public recognition of Brueggers Bagels outlets.

In practical terms, a franchisee must ensure that all advertising and promotional efforts comply with Brueggers Bagels's standards and branding guidelines. While franchisees contribute to the Brand Marketing Fund, they may not receive direct advertising materials in proportion to their contributions. It is important for a prospective franchisee to clarify with Brueggers Bagels the extent to which the franchisor provides advertising materials and what support is available for local marketing efforts.
