What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Brueggers Bagels's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, when operating a bakery, franchisees must identify themselves as a licensee of the Proprietary Marks, not the owner. This identification must appear on invoices, order forms, receipts, check stock, payroll forms, business stationery, websites, email auto-signatures, other electronic media, and in conspicuous locations on the premises. This ensures customers understand the bakery is part of the Brueggers Bagels franchise system.
Brueggers Bagels requires franchisees to operate and advertise the bakery only under the names "Bruegger's" and "Bruegger's Bagels", using all Proprietary Marks without any prefix or suffix. Franchisees are prohibited from using the Proprietary Marks as part of their corporate or legal name. All advertising and promotional materials, packaging, signs, decorations, websites, and other specified items must bear the Proprietary Marks in the form, color, size, and location prescribed by Brueggers Bagels.
These requirements help maintain brand consistency and prevent customer confusion. By strictly controlling the use of its trademarks and requiring franchisees to identify themselves as licensees, Brueggers Bagels aims to protect its brand identity and goodwill. This is a common practice in franchising, as consistent branding is crucial for building customer recognition and trust across all locations. Franchisees must adhere to these guidelines to ensure they are correctly representing the Brueggers Bagels brand.
