What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Brueggers Bagels' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, specifically the Washington addendum, the location for arbitration or mediation involving a franchise purchased in Washington will be either in the state of Washington, at a location mutually agreed upon by both parties at the time of the arbitration or mediation, or as determined by the arbitrator or mediator during the proceedings.
This stipulation ensures that Brueggers Bagels franchisees in Washington are not forced to travel to a distant or inconvenient location for dispute resolution. It provides flexibility, allowing for a location that is either within the state, agreed upon by both parties, or determined by the arbitrator or mediator, which could potentially reduce costs and logistical challenges for the franchisee.
It is important to note that this addendum is designed to work in conjunction with the Washington Franchise Investment Protection Act, and its provisions are intended to protect the rights of franchisees within the state. Franchisees should be aware of these protections and consult with legal counsel to fully understand their rights and obligations under the franchise agreement and applicable laws.
