What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Browns Chicken's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Browns Chicken may make reasonable modifications to the Operating Manual from time to time. These modifications are allowed to reflect changes in authorized products and services, as well as specifications, standards, and operating procedures for Browns Chicken stores.
The franchise agreement specifies that these modifications must be reasonable and cannot alter the franchisee's fundamental rights under the agreement. This means Browns Chicken can update the manual to keep pace with industry changes or improve efficiency, but they can't use these updates to unfairly disadvantage franchisees or change the core terms of the franchise agreement.
In the event of a dispute about the contents of the Operating Manual, the master copies maintained by Browns Chicken at its principal office will be controlling. Franchisees are required to keep their copy of the Operating Manual current. Browns Chicken also retains the right to vary standards and specifications to accommodate unique features, special requirements, or other factors they deem relevant to their business judgment.
This clause ensures that Browns Chicken can maintain brand consistency and adapt to changing market conditions while also protecting the franchisee's investment and rights. Franchisees should pay close attention to any updates to the Operating Manual and seek clarification from Browns Chicken if they believe a modification infringes upon their fundamental rights.
