According to Browns Chicken's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are responsible for obtaining specific permits and licenses to operate their store. Browns Chicken requires franchisees to obtain all necessary zoning changes, as well as health, sanitation, building, utility, sign, and business permits and licenses. Additionally, franchisees must secure any other permits and licenses required to operate the Browns Chicken store.

Furthermore, franchisees must obtain sanitation certification as required by their state. They are also required to have a certified manager on duty at the store at all times. These stipulations ensure that each Browns Chicken location meets the necessary health and safety standards, as well as complies with all local and state regulations.

Prospective Browns Chicken franchisees should carefully investigate the specific permit and licensing requirements in their chosen location. These requirements can vary significantly depending on local ordinances and state laws. Failure to obtain the necessary permits and licenses can result in delays in opening the store, fines, or even legal action. Therefore, it is crucial to address these requirements early in the development process.
