What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Browns Chicken's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the franchisee is responsible for securing and maintaining all required licenses and permits related to the store's operation. This includes operating the store in full compliance with all applicable laws, ordinances, and regulations. These regulations include, but are not limited to, government regulations related to health and safety, federal labeling laws, consumer protection, trade regulation, workmen's compensation, unemployment insurance, and the withholding and payment of federal and state income taxes, social security taxes, sales, use and property taxes.
In the event that the franchisee fails to secure any required license or permit, Browns Chicken has the option to obtain it on the franchisee's behalf. If Browns Chicken chooses to do so, the franchisee is obligated to fully cooperate with Browns Chicken's efforts and must reimburse Browns Chicken for all associated costs and charges upon demand.
This means that a Browns Chicken franchisee must proactively manage all licensing and permitting requirements for their store, including any licenses required to sell alcohol if applicable. Failure to do so can result in Browns Chicken intervening and charging the franchisee for any expenses incurred in obtaining or maintaining such licenses. Prospective franchisees should confirm with Browns Chicken what specific licenses and permits are needed for their location and the process for obtaining them.
