What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Browns Chicken Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to join any local advertising co-operative that has been formed or may be formed in their area, consisting of both franchisees and Browns Chicken-owned or affiliate-owned stores. This means that if a co-op exists in the franchisee's territory, they must participate.
Browns Chicken assumes no direct or indirect liability or obligation to the franchisee or to any local co-operative regarding the co-operative's maintenance, direction, or administration. This includes any failure by franchisees to make contributions to the co-operative. Essentially, Browns Chicken sets the requirement but does not oversee the co-op's operations or finances.
This requirement ensures a consistent local advertising effort but places the responsibility for the co-op's success on the participating franchisees. A prospective franchisee should inquire about the existence, structure, and financial health of any local advertising co-operatives in their target area to fully understand this obligation.
