What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Browns Chicken Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are explicitly prohibited from registering the Browns Chicken Marks on the internet for their own account. This restriction extends to various online platforms and services. Franchisees cannot register the Marks on the Internet or any other computer on-line service, including but not limited to YouTube, Facebook, or Twitter.
Furthermore, Browns Chicken franchisees are not allowed to create and maintain their own websites or Facebook listings (or similar electronic communication devices) on the Internet using the Marks. They are also restricted from using the Marks on the Internet in any other manner without explicit written authorization from Browns Chicken. This ensures that Browns Chicken maintains control over its brand and online presence.
This policy is typical in franchising, as franchisors need to protect their trademarks and ensure consistent brand representation across all franchise locations. By preventing individual franchisees from registering the Marks, Browns Chicken can maintain uniformity and prevent potential misuse or infringement. A prospective franchisee should understand that all online marketing and branding efforts must align with the franchisor's guidelines and be approved in writing.
