What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Brightstar Care's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the Minimum Start Date (MSD) for an agency acquired through a transfer is the effective date of the transfer.
This means that the franchisee's performance standards will be evaluated beginning twelve months after the transfer's effective date. The Minimum Start Date is a key milestone because it marks the point from which Brightstar Care measures a franchisee's performance against established standards.
For a new Brightstar Care franchisee, the Minimum Start Date is defined differently. It is the earlier of the date of the first billing or 180 days after signing the Franchise Agreement. However, if state licensure takes longer than 180 days, the Minimum Start Date is the Monday following receipt of the required license to perform Companion and Personal in-home care services.
