Site Selection
You must identify a location for your Center, obtain our approval for the location and the lease, sign the lease for the Center within 120 days of the execution of your Franchise Agreement, and open the Center within nine (9) months after the date of the Franchise Agreement. Within ten (10) days after you execute any lease for the premises, you must deliver a copy of the lease to us. Other than the specific provisions we require, we do not review your lease or its business terms. We may recommend a real estate services company that can assist you with your lease negotiation and work letter, which may increase the likelihood of receiving review more quickly.
We consider traffic patterns, demographics, available parking, and other factors when deciding whether to approve a proposed Center location. Ideally, your Center should be in a safe, approved location with well-lighted parking areas, located close to a highly visible area near a major roadway. There should be enough parking to accommodate at least 15 Center related cars.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Brain Balance's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee must open their Brain Balance Center within nine months after the date of the Franchise Agreement. Failure to open within this timeframe allows Brain Balance to terminate the Franchise Agreement and retain the franchise fee.
Additionally, the FDD states that franchisees must sign the lease for their Brain Balance Center within 120 days of signing the Franchise Agreement. The typical length of time to open a Brain Balance Center after signing the franchise agreement is six to seven months; however, it typically takes three to six months after Brain Balance approves the site to open.
These requirements highlight the importance of efficient site selection and preparation. A prospective Brain Balance franchisee should carefully consider these timelines and ensure they have a solid plan for securing a location, completing necessary build-out, and undergoing training to avoid potential penalties or termination of the agreement.
