Under what condition is a Brain Balance franchisee permitted to charge fees for services?

According to the 2025 Brain Balance Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are generally the recipients of fees rather than the entity charging them. However, there are specific instances where a Brain Balance franchisee will be required to pay for services rendered by the franchisor.

Specifically, franchisees are required to pay for advanced training and consultation services under certain conditions. If a franchisee requests additional training or consultation, if they fail to master the principles of the Licensed Technology, if system development results in new principles or protocols, or if the franchisee replaces the Program Director, they will be required to pay for these services. The cost for these consultation services is $500 for a half-day (less than 4 hours) and $1,000 for a full-day, in addition to airfare, lodging, and travel expenses. Alternatively, the franchisee can send a new Program Director to the next scheduled Initial Training session for $300.

Furthermore, Brain Balance franchisees must also pay for ongoing training through webinars, courses within the Brain Balance Training Site, and workshops related to enrollment enhancement, sensory motor and academic administration, and marketing, up to two times per year, for a period of between one and five days. Attendance is mandatory for the Program Director when this advanced training is offered by the franchisor, and the franchisee is responsible for the travel costs of its employees and personnel. These stipulations ensure that Brain Balance franchisees and their staff remain up-to-date with the latest training and operational standards, although at their own expense under the outlined circumstances.
