What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Brain Balance's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, additional training and consultation are available to franchisees at their own cost under specific circumstances. These include situations where the franchisee fails to master the principles and objectives of the Licensed Technology, if new principles or protocols are developed for the Brain Balance system, or if the franchisee replaces either their Center Director or Program Director. In the event of replacing a Center Director or Program Director, the replacement employee must attend the next scheduled initial training, incurring a flat fee of $500 per day.
For other situations requiring additional training at the franchisee's location, Brain Balance charges a per day fee of $1,000, in addition to covering airfare, lodging, and travel expenses for the trainer or consultant. These consulting services may cover business development, marketing, organization, operation of additional centers, and promotion of the franchised business. Brain Balance specifies that consulting services lasting more than four hours are considered a full day, while services lasting between one-half hour and four hours are considered a half day, with a charge of $500. Time spent by a consultant lasting less than one-half hour will not be considered consultation services.
Furthermore, if a franchisee requests consulting services from a specific Brain Balance corporate employee, the per diem rate increases to $1,500, and the half-day rate becomes $750. Brain Balance also offers advanced training in the form of regional workshops, which the franchisee, Center Director, and Program Director are required to attend at their own expense. These workshops, if offered, focus on enrollment enhancement, assessment and program administration, and marketing, and will not occur more than two times per year, and in some years may not be offered at all. These stipulations highlight the importance of mastering the initial training and carefully managing staff to avoid incurring additional expenses.
