What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Brain Balance's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee will be charged a transfer fee of $10,000 upon completion of the transfer. This fee is payable to Brain Balance. Note 8 of Item 6 states that this transfer fee compensates Brain Balance for the cost of training the transferee and other related costs.
However, the FDD specifies an exception to this transfer fee. A franchisee will not be charged a transfer fee if the franchise is transferred to their spouse or adult child.
Transfer fees are common in franchising and usually cover the franchisor's administrative costs and training of the new franchisee. The Brain Balance transfer fee is within the typical range for franchises with a similar investment level.
