What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Brain Balance Franchise Disclosure Document, the cost of local advertising or media placement is not covered by the Brain Balance Advertising Fund. Franchisees are expected to make a significant local media investment to generate revenue for their center.
Brain Balance requires all Corporate and Franchise Centers to contribute 2% of Gross Revenue to the Advertising Fund on a monthly basis. This fund is used to promote the Brain Balance brand through various marketing and advertising programs at the national level. These programs include market research, advertising production, brand positioning, parent-facing materials, photography, television, video and radio production, client testimonials, public relations, website development, maintenance, and optimization.
In addition to the contribution to the Advertising Fund, Brain Balance franchisees must also budget for local marketing and promotional activities. When entering into a Franchise Agreement, Brain Balance will jointly determine the appropriate monthly expenditure for local marketing and promotional activities, with a minimum requirement of 9% of gross revenue or $6,000 per month, whichever is higher. These expenditures must be allocated according to Brain Balance's recommendations and made consistently throughout the year. Franchisees are required to use the national advertising materials provided by Brain Balance locally, and any franchisee-created local marketing materials must be pre-approved by Brain Balance.
