What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Boulder Designs's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, all advertising and promotions require written approval from the franchisor in advance. Boulder Designs has 30 days to approve or deny the submission. If Boulder Designs does not respond within 30 days, the advertising or promotions are considered denied, and the franchisee is not allowed to use them.

This requirement ensures that all advertising and promotional materials align with Boulder Designs's brand standards and marketing strategies. It allows Boulder Designs to maintain consistency and control over its public image. The approval process also gives Boulder Designs the opportunity to ensure that advertising claims are accurate and compliant with applicable laws and regulations.

As a recommendation, Boulder Designs suggests franchisees spend at least 10% of annual gross revenue on local advertising that conforms to their standards. Franchisees must also furnish an accurate accounting of their local advertising expenditures for the preceding calendar year by January 31st of each year, regardless of the amount spent. This allows Boulder Designs to monitor advertising efforts and ensure compliance with brand standards.

Boulder Designs also handles online marketing through its marketing agency, with the franchisee responsible for the associated costs. This includes listings on platforms like Google Places and Facebook. Franchisees should factor in both the mandatory approval process and the recommended advertising expenditure when planning their marketing activities.
