What is the initial training fee for a Boulder Designs franchise?

According to Boulder Designs' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the initial training fee is $12,000. This fee is for the franchisee and their internal manager to attend and complete the initial training program, which lasts approximately five business days. The training covers essential aspects of operating a Boulder Designs business.

The initial training fee is due when the franchise agreement is signed. The FDD states that the initial training fee is fully earned and nonrefundable upon completion of the training. However, if the franchisee does not successfully complete the initial training, Boulder Designs reserves the right to deduct from the initial training fee to cover their expenses and the cost of providing the training course. In addition to this deduction, the franchisee may also be required to pay an On-Site Training Cancellation Fee.

If a franchisee purchases two Boulder Designs franchises, they only need to attend the initial training once, provided they have not appointed a new internal manager. However, if the franchisee transfers controlling interest to a new owner or appoints a new internal manager, they will be subject to additional initial training costs for the new owners or managers. The franchisee is responsible for all expenses incurred while attending the training program, including travel costs, room and board, and employee salaries.
