What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Boulder Designs's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the initial training fee of $12,000 is generally nonrefundable. This fee covers the cost for the franchisee and their initial manager to attend and complete one level of training, which lasts approximately five business days. This training is a mandatory part of starting a Boulder Designs franchise.

However, the FDD specifies that the initial training amount is fully earned and nonrefundable upon completion of the training. If the franchisee does not successfully complete the initial training, Boulder Designs reserves the right to deduct an amount from the initial training fee to cover their expenses and the cost of providing the training course. In addition to this deduction, the franchisee may also be required to pay an On-Site Training Cancellation Fee.

It's important to note that if a franchisee purchases two Boulder Designs franchises, they only need to attend the training once, provided they have not appointed a new Internal Manager. However, if controlling interest is transferred to a new owner, or a new Internal Manager is appointed, additional training costs will be incurred to train the new owners or managers. This policy ensures that all individuals in key management positions are properly trained in Boulder Designs's operational standards and practices.

In summary, while the initial $12,000 training fee is typically nonrefundable once training is completed, prospective franchisees should be aware of the conditions under which partial refunds or additional fees may apply, such as failing to complete the training or needing to train new personnel after a change in ownership or management.
