What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Bonchon's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, if a franchisee wants to use an architect other than the one designated by Bonchon, Bonchon has three weeks to review the request. The franchisee must submit the name of the proposed architect and any other required information, along with the Architect Evaluation Fee.

Bonchon will then communicate its decision within three weeks of receiving all necessary information. If Bonchon fails to respond within this timeframe, the franchisee is prohibited from using the proposed architect. This process ensures that Bonchon maintains control over the construction and design standards of its restaurants, while allowing franchisees to propose alternatives under specific conditions.

This requirement has significant implications for a prospective Bonchon franchisee. The franchisee must pay an Architect Evaluation Fee, which is nonrefundable, when submitting the request. The franchisee also risks project delays if the proposed architect is rejected or if Bonchon does not respond in a timely manner. Therefore, it is crucial for franchisees to carefully consider their choice of architect and ensure they meet Bonchon's standards before submitting a request. Franchisees should also factor in the three-week review period when planning their construction timeline.
