What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Bonchon's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, if a sole proprietor is not old enough to enter into a contract independently, but is at least 13 years old, their representative must be their parent or legal guardian. The FDD specifies that while the age to enter into a contract is commonly 18, it may vary.

This requirement ensures that there is a legally responsible party overseeing the business operations and obligations. The parent or legal guardian assumes personal responsibility and liability for the sole proprietor's use of services and obligations to customers, including payments owed under the agreement.

For a prospective Bonchon franchisee, this means that if they are under the age of majority but at least 13 years old, they can still own a franchise with the involvement and legal responsibility of their parent or legal guardian. This arrangement allows younger individuals to participate in the franchise system while providing a safeguard for Bonchon and its customers.
