How does the Bonchon franchisor's requirement for franchisees to purchase Bonchon logoed packaging items (Item 8) contribute to the overall brand recognition and customer loyalty?

Bonchon Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

You must purchase proprietary and other designated products (currently Bonchon logoed packaging items, logo-imprinted paper goods, cooking utensils, sweet sugar, brushes, and our proprietary sauces, seasonings and spice blends) from the source that we designate. Currently, our designated supplier, Sysco Foodservice, is the only approved supplier of our (i) proprietary sauce (including any "limited time only sauce" that we may promote from time to time) and (ii) Bonchon logoed packaging items, but we may change the designated supplier(s) of our proprietary sauce and logoed packaging items from time to time in our Confidential Operations Manual.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Bonchon's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to purchase Bonchon logoed packaging items from designated suppliers. This requirement ensures that all Bonchon restaurants use consistent branding in their packaging. This consistency helps to reinforce brand recognition among customers, as they will easily identify the Bonchon brand regardless of the specific location they visit.

The use of logoed packaging also contributes to customer loyalty. Consistent branding creates a sense of trust and familiarity with the brand. When customers see the Bonchon logo on the packaging, they are reminded of their past positive experiences with the restaurant, which encourages them to return. Moreover, the consistent use of branded packaging across all locations helps to create a unified brand image, which can enhance the perceived value of the Bonchon brand.

Sysco Foodservice is currently the only approved supplier of Bonchon logoed packaging items, but Bonchon may change the designated supplier in the future. By mandating the use of specific branded packaging, Bonchon maintains control over its brand image and ensures that all franchisees contribute to a cohesive and recognizable brand identity. This is a common practice in franchising, as it helps to protect the brand's reputation and build customer loyalty across all locations.
