What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Bonchon's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee must not use Stripe Technology for any purposes prohibited by law. This includes the development, design, manufacture, or production of missiles, nuclear, chemical, or biological weapons. This restriction ensures that Bonchon franchisees adhere to legal and ethical standards in all their business operations, particularly when using third-party technologies like Stripe for payment processing and other services.
Furthermore, Bonchon franchisees are prohibited from using Stripe services for personal, family, or household purposes, and they cannot act as a service bureau or pass-through agent for the services without adding value to customers. They are also restricted from working around the technical limitations of the services, enabling disabled or prohibited functionalities, or accessing non-public Stripe systems, programs, data, or services. Reverse engineering the services or Stripe Technology is also prohibited, except as permitted by law.
Bonchon franchisees must also avoid using Stripe services to engage in any activity that is illegal, fraudulent, deceptive, or harmful. They are not allowed to perform any action that interferes with the normal operation of the services or affects other Stripe users' use of Stripe services. Exceeding any service usage limitations stated in the documentation and copying, reproducing, republishing, uploading, posting, transmitting, reselling, or distributing any part of the services, documentation, or the Stripe website, except as permitted by law, are also prohibited. These restrictions are in place to maintain the integrity and security of the Stripe platform and to protect both Bonchon and its customers from potential harm or legal issues.
If a Bonchon franchisee violates these restrictions, Stripe may immediately suspend the provision of any or all services and the franchisee's access to Stripe Technology. This can occur if Stripe believes that the franchisee's actions violate any law, financial services terms, or governmental authority requirement. Suspension can also result from engaging in activities that present an unacceptable risk to Stripe, are harmful to Stripe or any third party, present an unacceptable level of credit risk, increase the rate of fraud, degrade the security or reliability of Stripe services, or enable illegal or prohibited transactions.
