What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Bonchon's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the Stripe Services Agreement outlines specific age requirements for sole proprietors using Stripe's services. If a sole proprietor is not old enough to enter into a contract (typically 18 years old) but is at least 13 years old, their parent or legal guardian must act as their representative. Individuals under 13 years of age are prohibited from using Stripe's services.
If Bonchon violates the age requirements outlined in the Stripe Services Agreement, Stripe has the right to immediately suspend any or all services to the franchisee and their access to Stripe Technology. This is per section 6.2 of the Stripe Services Agreement, which states Stripe may suspend services if it believes it will violate any law, Financial Services Terms, or Governmental Authority requirement.
This suspension could significantly impact a Bonchon franchisee's ability to process payments and manage their business operations, as Stripe is often used for financial transactions. The franchisee's Representative (parent, legal guardian, board, or authorized officer) is responsible to Stripe and legally bound to the agreement as if they had agreed to the Agreement themselves.
It is important for prospective Bonchon franchisees to understand and adhere to these age requirements to avoid potential disruptions to their business. Franchisees should carefully review the Stripe Services Agreement and ensure they meet all eligibility criteria or have the appropriate representation in place.
