What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Body20's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are not currently required to enter into maintenance contracts for the Technology System. Body20 states that it does not expect franchisees will need to enter into any maintenance, updating, upgrading, or support contracts related to the Technology System. Body20, its affiliates, and third-party vendors are not obligated to provide ongoing maintenance, repairs, upgrades, or updates. However, vendors may offer optional maintenance, updating, upgrading, or support contracts, which Body20 estimates may cost approximately $2,500 per year.
Even though maintenance contracts are not required, franchisees are responsible for maintaining the Technology System in good working order at their own expense. They must also ensure their employees are adequately trained in using the Technology System and related policies. Franchisees are responsible for any consequences arising from improper operation, maintenance, or upgrades, or if the system fails to operate continuously or as expected.
While Body20 does not mandate maintenance contracts, the potential for optional contracts costing around $2,500 annually should be considered. The franchisee bears the responsibility for keeping the Technology System operational and compliant with all relevant laws and payment card provider standards. This setup is fairly typical in franchising, where the franchisee often handles day-to-day maintenance while the franchisor sets the technology standards.
