What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Body20's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Body20 may require franchisees to use only general contractors that they have pre-approved, provided that they have pre-approved one in the franchisee's Site Selection Area. This means that while franchisees may not be able to choose any contractor they want, Body20 must offer at least one approved option within the area where the franchisee is establishing their studio.
This requirement ensures that the construction of the Body20 studio meets the franchisor's standards and specifications. By using pre-approved contractors, Body20 aims to maintain consistency and quality across all franchise locations. This can help protect the brand's reputation and ensure that each studio provides a similar experience for customers.
For a prospective franchisee, this means they will need to select a general contractor from Body20's approved list for their Site Selection Area. It is important to inquire about the number of approved contractors in the area and their availability to ensure that construction can proceed without delays. Franchisees should also understand the process for getting a contractor approved if there are no pre-approved contractors in their area.
Furthermore, the FDD states that the franchisee must notify Body20 in writing promptly when construction begins and must maintain continuous construction until the Studio is completed. The franchisee is responsible for completing the construction of their studio in accordance with the approved plans at their expense. Body20 and its agents may inspect the construction at all reasonable times. After construction is complete, the franchisee must promptly obtain a certificate of occupancy and provide a copy to Body20.
