What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Body20 Franchise Disclosure Document, Exhibit J includes a compliance questionnaire that is intended to be completed before signing the franchise agreement. The questionnaire aims to confirm that the franchisee understands the terms of the contract and that no unauthorized statements or promises have been made.

However, the FDD stipulates that this questionnaire is not to be completed, and will not apply, if the franchise is subject to state franchise disclosure laws in California, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Virginia, Washington, or Wisconsin. Furthermore, the acknowledgement should not be signed if the franchise is to be operated in, or the franchisee is a resident of, Maryland.

Prospective Body20 franchisees should carefully review Exhibit J and determine whether the state in which they plan to operate their franchise requires them to complete the questionnaire before signing the franchise agreement. If the franchisee is operating in or is a resident of Maryland, they should not sign the acknowledgement.
